THE ANIMAL JUSTICE PARTY'S grubby preference deals at the 2022 Victorian state election resulted in the election of their lead candidate, Georgie Purcell, which was an outcome bound to alienate the party at this year’s election. Her election saw the creation of a parliamentary committee that recommended banning duck hunting, which only failed because of the intervention of the Premier’s office. It also saw the scrapping of plans to build major new infrastructure for the shooting sports, which was a major blow to Victorian shooters.
Purcell is now shacked up with Labor MP Josh Burns, raising questions about whether she might be looking to continue her parliamentary career on the Labor ticket at this year’s Victorian State Election.
Don't forget, Georgie also used to work for the United Workers Union - which has strong links to Labor.
Georgie has openly stated she "will not stop until duck shooting is banned," making her intentions clear.
Burns has form on firearms too. His response to firearm policy concerns in Albo’s recent change to federal gun laws (mostly at the border), turned out to be a seemingly AI-generated (or partly generated) reply that failed to satisfy us that Burns has taken the concerns of shooters seriously.
In fact, Josh is the co-chair of Parliamentary Friends of Firearm Safety, which has links to the Alannah and Madeline Foundation – and which has nothing to do with firearm safety, but rather lobbying on firearm laws.
With November's Victorian election approaching, every shooter needs to understand what's at stake and how to protect their sport.
Not only is it important to vote for the right party, but you need to direct your own preferences away from parties like the AJP. We’ll show you how to do that as the election approaches later this year.
Finally, can you please help us? We need to be able to send this content to more and more shooters – so make sure you’re on our email list & get your mates to do the same as well!

THE RECENT SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ELECTION has sent shockwaves through Australia's political landscape, and shooters need to pay attention.
We break down the stunning results – with Labor securing 34 seats while the Liberals collapsed to just 5 with One Nation mopping up 4 seats in the lower house, and 3 in the upper house.
This isn't just about South Australia. With Victoria's state election just six months away in November, the stakes have never been higher for the state's 250,000 licensed shooters – and the NSW State Election coming up in the rearview mirror just after.
The discussion reveals why Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allan, may be the only thing holding back anti-gun Labor MPs from further attacking what we do, and how fragile that protection is.
Meanwhile, NSW Labor's refusal to consult with any shooting organisations is bound to haunt them. They forgot the number 1 rule of gun politics – demonstrated by the NSW Labor Unsworth Government in 1988 - which is that bringing in more gun laws is a GUARANTEED VOTE LOSER.
The result – and the “sh*tstorm NSW Labor has created” - also exposes the slow but observable collapse of the National Firearms Agreement, with each state now pursuing wildly different approaches.
From Queensland's stable pro-shooting stance to Western Australia's draconian laws, the landscape has never been more divided. Labor governments across Australia don’t seem to have worked that out yet.
We also take a deeper look at the ongoing Freedom of Information campaign targeting the secretive Firearms and Weapons Policy Working Group where bureaucrats craft anti-gun policies behind closed doors.
The NSW Information and Privacy Commissioner backed our arguments and recommended NSW Police make a new decision – but they gave that idea the middle finger – which is why we appealed to NCAT.
If we’re successful, we’re anticipating NSW Police will appeal to the Supreme Court - making this a high-stakes transparency battle that could lift the lid on WHAT EVERY FIREARMS REGISTRY is thinking!
The legal action is funded by shooter donations through GoFundMe and PayPal, with generous support from shooters around Australia.

WE LOOK AT what the One Nation result in South Australia means for Victoria's upcoming state election. We explain how all political parties—Labor, Liberal, and One Nation—can improve their pitch for the shooter's vote.
That's over 250,000 votes there for the taking.
The surge in One Nation's vote in South Australia isn't a one-off. It's a significant indicator of what we might see in Victoria, and it shows what conservative voters think the Liberal Party has gone too soft.
One Nation secured nearly a quarter of the primary vote, mostly from the Liberals, and this funding boost will help them bankroll an even bigger campaign in Victoria.
I outline three critical areas that parties need to understand if they want to win shooter support.
They are to support hunting as an economic activity, commit to building world-class shooting infrastructure to position Victoria as a sporting centre, and CHANGE THE NARRATIVE whenever it comes public discussions over firearms policy.
These are three easy to implement changes, all of which can be justified under the state’s cost-benefits framework. None of these require the parties to touch our gun laws – but will pave the way for those discussions to be had later on.
It’s an easy election position to take that will create a massive boost for the parties in their race to win the shooters’ vote without drawing fire from our opponents.

WE’VE JUST LAUNCHED the first ever legal action to expose what Australia's firearm registries have been secretly planning behind closed doors at the National Firearms and Weapons Policy Working Group.
We filed our case with NCAT after the NSW Information and Privacy Commissioner found that NSW Police had no legitimate grounds to refuse us access to these documents under GIPA laws.
Despite the IPC's damning report recommending they release the information, NSW Police gave us—and every licensed firearm owner in Australia—the middle finger. Now we're taking them to tribunal.
Our first hearing is scheduled for May 7th at 12:30pm, and we're expecting a tough fight. This isn't just about NSW—if we win, we'll expose what all state and territory registries are planning for us: new restrictions, increased costs, reduced appeal rights, and more red tape.
We need your support to afford specialist legal representation. Every dollar counts, whether it's $5 or $500. Check out our GoFundMe or PayPal links below.
This affects every licensed firearm owner in Australia. Subscribe and share to stay updated on every development.

WE LOOK AT the Tasmania's New Firearms Consultative Committee, which includes a number of anti-shooting groups who have nothing to contribute to firearms policy. We also look at how Tasmania's Police Commissioner, Donna Adams, recently used the media to push her view that there should be gun limits imposed on shooters in Tasmania. She based this on the death of a constable – at the hands of an offender who was not licensed, held firearms that were not registered, and was caught in possession of other prohibited items. The commissioner’s statements raise serious questions about whether she is fit to stay in the job. Police Minister, Felix Ellis, needs to pull her aside and remind her of who sets government policy – and that she should either resign, or fall into line.

CHANNEL 96 is one of our favourite channels – but even it may have fallen foul of Albo’s new gun laws.
The program "How It's Made" recently featured the restoration of an 1886 lever action rifle— covering the making of a stock, engraving of the stock, restoration of the trigger and lever, barrel bluing and engraving of the receiver.
The problem is Albo’s new gun laws make this illegal – meaning that both Channel 9 and anyone who watched the program may have broken the law – and risk (at least theoretically) being put away for up to 5 years.
We break down how this law works and why it captures innocent viewers.
It’s part of the stupidity we saw come out of Federal Labor – and publicly supported by several of its MPs.

WE UPDATE YOU on our ongoing Freedom of Information request against New South Wales Police to lift the lid on discussions between the states on what other gun laws they are contemplating.
On February 27, 2025, I submitted a request under the New South Wales equivalent to Freedom of Information laws to obtain vital meeting minutes on meetings held with other registries, which they refused to release arguing doing so would compromise public interest.
However, our appeal to the Information and Privacy Commission has rejected the NSW Police claims and recommended they (NSW Police) come up with a new decision, mindful of the reasons for the rejection.
Join us as we delve deeper into this pivotal issue and discuss what this means for firearm owners in Australia.

IN THIS EPISODE, we look at Kate’s escape to the United States nearly a year ago, without ever starting the legal battle on WA gun laws she promised or explaining where the money has gone. We also look at why Australian shooters desperately need effective political representation —and why so many past attempts have failed. I break down the three main reasons: inexperience, greed, and ego.
We've seen well-meaning people enter politics without the necessary background to navigate the system effectively. They get used up by major parties with decades more experience. Real political effectiveness requires 20+ years working in major parties or at the ministerial coalface – but who has that?
Sadly, we've seen shooters’ elected representatives cut deals with major parties to keep their taxpayer-funded salaries, giving us duck hunting inquiries and stacked consultative committees in return. In Victoria, a deal even blocked the development of a major ISSF shooting facility.
Finally, ego has destroyed effective lobbying efforts, with the most significant one being the collapse of the National Shooting Council in early 2023.
That's why we started Politics Reloaded. With thanks to Sean Frazer, we’ve grown Gun News Australia into Australia's only regular pro-shooting political podcast - with over half a million views so far.
We also look at a recent FOI victory against NSW Police as proof of what we can done when you have the right people doing the work.

WE SPEAK WITH Nicola Centofanti MLC, the Leader of the Opposition in South Australia’s Upper House, as the state approaches a pivotal election on March 21st.
The discussion covers the significant concerns surrounding firearm legislation, particularly in light of recent changes to gun laws in Western Australia and New South Wales and federally – and even SA Labor’s decision to ban bow hunting and try to ban duck hunting by stealth by jacking up hunting fees by 400%
Nicola shares her insights on the importance of firearms ownership for regional communities, highlighting her personal experiences with firearms through her work as a veterinarian and her upbringing in rural South Australia.
The conversation also delves into the Liberal Party's stance on gun laws, emphasizing their commitment to protecting the rights of shooters – and reversing Labor’s hunting tax.
Nicola outlines her party’s plans to ensure that South Australians have a clear choice and voice regarding firearm policies and the future of recreational hunting.
Plus, we look at One Nation’s updated firearms policy which has only just been released. We’ll be working through that in the next few days and letting you know what we think – but first impression is that it looks remarkably similar to the Liberal Party statement!
Meanwhile, Labor is staying quiet and is non-committal to anything beyond the election.

IN THIS EPISODE, we dive into the shocking thought-bubble emerging from Victoria's Firearms Legislation Review—a limit of just 10 rounds per shooter.
It was a simple query, but one which points to a much, much deeper problem affecting every licensed shooter.
Australian shooters are facing an unprecedented wave of new restrictions across multiple states, from gun limits in NSW to Western Australia's draconian safe storage requirements.
With elections looming in South Australia (March 21) and Victoria (November 28), both Labor governments are treading carefully, but the future of what they will do beyond those elections remains uncertain.
Former Police Commissioner Ken Lay is leading Victoria's firearms review, but serious concerns have emerged about the expertise that the review team has.
During the consultation, the team asked if there should be a limit of ten rounds per shooter.
We appreciate that consultation is necessary to fill knowledge gaps, that should only ever be necessary for dealing with minor areas of detail.
Instead, this was a question of major importance that was not helpful to have asked.
It points to the more fundamental problem facing firearms policy management in Australia. That is because firearms policy advice is often developed by people who do not have the necessary subject matter expertise and industry only gets involved after the initial line of questioning has been developed.
We raise this problem in the hope that those responsible for the review get to see why this is the case and instead recommend a significant improvement to the way firearms policy is developed that is based on industry advice – rather than from within government - because it does not address the key problems we face. In other words, we need an entirely new engagement model.
NO GOVERNMENT would take that approach for medicine, aviation, road management, bridge design, or other important areas of public policy - so why is it different for firearms?
This is why shooters get wound up every time they hear government come up with new policy ideas that do not involve the shooting sector.
Finally, can you please help us? We need to be able to send this content to more and more shooters – so make sure you’re on our email list & get your mates to do the same as well!
